Jake Gyllenhaal 'Just Fascinated' With 'Source Code'

'There are a million ideas that come out of it,' actor tells MTV News.By Kara Warner

In addition to the thrill ride and action-oriented aspects the "Source Code" trailers and TV spots are selling — as well as the film's very capable leading man, Jake Gyllenhaal — the plot's underlying subject matter leaves a lot of room for discussion and debate.

When MTV News caught up with Gyllenhaal recently during the film's press day, we asked him how the idea of occupying someone else's mind for eight minutes appeals to both his sci-fi and philosophical interests.
"First, I was just fascinated with the idea, the concept of what the Source Code was because it felt like the center of the movie is this computer program," Gyllenhaal explained. "So I thought, 'Well, does this hold water?' And then I thought, 'It does because it's a computer program that allows somebody to go into the body of another person for the last eight minutes of their life.' Had it been a computer program that allows somebody to go into somebody else's body, just anybody's body, it wouldn't be interesting, but this plays on the usurping of the electromagnetic impulses in the brain right before somebody dies."
Gyllenhaal went on to say that the idea of going back into a catastrophe and figuring out how it happened was particularly interesting, and he hopes it leaves audiences wanting to explore their own analysis as well.
"It opened up a world of possibilities, philosophically, for me," he revealed. "And psychologically, what effect does this have on the human brain, the person experiencing it, but at the same time, what effect could it have on history and what could it be used for? It was just fascinating: There are a million ideas that come out of it."

Exciting News

I have all but abandoned this blog and, for that, I am sorry. I am, however, going to get back to it because... wait for it, wait for it... I'm moving to LA for six months starting in June and I'm going to share every dirty detail with you!
You see, Mark and my good friend Patty are executive producers of a new television show that will be taping in New York from June to November. Instead of him getting his own apartment here, we thought it would be more fun to trade places. It's going to be like The Holiday and I get to be Kate Winslet. I'M GOING TO HAVE A CAR AND EVERYTHING. (Watch. Out.)
I'm looking forward to a change of scenery and have other friends out there besides him. Also, the movie is being released at the end of September, so it will be fun to be out there for that.
So anyway, that's what I've been up to—planning all this and getting ready for my (temporary) move. Stay tuned!

Selena Gomez Says Justin Bieber 'Understands' Her

'He's been in my life for so long,' Gomez said on 'Late Show With David Letterman.'By Jocelyn Vena

When Selena Gomez stopped by "Late Show" to chat about her latest single, "Who Says," David Letterman couldn't resist bringing up Justin Bieber's name. And while she wasn't too forthcoming with details, she did give some insight into why she cares so much for her boyfriend.

"Oh, that's cute," she said when showed a picture of the teens at the Vanity Fair Oscar party last month. "It was like a little prom night, wasn't it? Looked like it."
Letterman then wondered how long she and Bieber have known one another. She said, "Almost, like, two years now." Letterman pressed further, asking how they met. "Actually, his manager called my mom, who's my manager," she explained, before Letterman joked, "I heard he was your paperboy."
"I'm blushing!" she said.
"Are you dating or not dating?" Letterman asked again, and Selena danced around the answer. "He's been in my life for so long, and it's just nice to have someone that understands what you're going through."
"This is not my first rodeo, you can talk to me about these things," Letterman quipped as she laughed. Then he promised not to go any further in his Bieber-related questioning.
Both stars have been as quiet as possible about the true nature of their relationship, though they have been spotted out on dates together. Earlier this month, Gomez was by Bieber's side as he celebrated his 17th birthday. And while on tour abroad, Bieber tweeted a message to her, noting how much he missed her.

Amy Adams: From 'June Bug' To Lois Lane

We take a look at the eclectic list of roles the Oscar-nominated actress, and new Superman love interest, has played.By Eric Ditzian

Amy Adams

Photo: Getty Images

Henry Cavill might have been getting a little lonely in Metropolis. Two months after landing the role of Superman in Zack Snyder's reboot of the superhero franchise, the 27-year-old actor still hadn't found out who'd become his Lois Lane.
The answer arrived on Sunday: Amy Adams will be play the Daily Planet reporter and Superman love interest. In a statement, Snyder called Adams "one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today." That's hardly an overstatement: The 36-year-old star has performed in indies and blockbusters, musicals and animated fare, solemn dramas and bawdy comedies. Along the way she's managed to earn three Oscar nominations, the latest for her supporting turn last year in "The Fighter."
A former Hooters waitress, Adams made her debut in 1999's "Drop Dead Gorgeous" as a dim and cheerful beauty-pageant contestant. Supporting roles on the big and small screen followed, but her next step up the Hollywood food chain didn't arrive until Steven Spielberg cast her as Leonardo DiCaprio's love interest in 2002's "Catch Me If You Can." While things were undoubtedly going well for the actress, she then took a step back from the spotlight over the next few years and only fully resurfaced in very unlikely fashion.
"June Bug," a sort of "Meet the Parents" for the art-house crowd that starred Adams as a wide-eyed gal named Ashley who's days away from giving birth and seemingly miles away from planet earth, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2005. The performance won her a special jury prize for acting — and a year later she earned her first Oscar nod for the part. The decision to avoid mainstream fare turned out to be just what Adams' career needed.
"If you love the project, you love the project, and you could be making millions of dollars and have millions of dollars to spend or no money to spend and making no money," Adams told us at the time. "But it's about the script and it's about the people and it's about the story."
From there she began mixing studio pictures ("Talladega Nights") with indie roles ("Sunshine Cleaning"), and ended up wowing critics and audiences in "Enchanted," a film that managed to breathe new life into movie musicals while at the same time paying deep respect to the genre. There was also a short but satisfying arc on "The Office" as Jim Halpert's (John Krasinski) handbag-slinging girlfriend. By the start of 2009, Adams would earn her second Oscar nod — this one for playing a 1960s-era nun in "Doubt" — and yet she couldn't quite get used to the idea that she was indeed a movie star.
"You see yourself onscreen, or you see pictures of yourself, and it can get really heady. I don't think human beings are supposed to look at themselves that much," she said in a 2009 Allure interview, adding that she used to think of herself as "homely" and "painfully small, short, with too much blue eye shadow because I thought, 'It matches my eyes, so why not?' "
Perhaps by now, following her third Oscar honor, she's more comfortable with the notion of celebrity. Hopefully. Because her star is about to rise to a whole new level. There's her turn as Jason Segel's girlfriend in "The Muppets," set to premiere later this year, and she wrapped production last year on "On the Road" opposite Kristen Stewart. In addition, she's attached to play Janis Joplin in a big-screen biopic. But none of that will compare to the exposure the new "Superman" movie will bring her when it premieres in December 2012. Snyder, for one, couldn't be happier with the choice.
"Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois," he said. "[S]mart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful."
What's your favorite Amy Adams performance? Tell us in the comments.

Rick Ross Says Wale Has Kanye West 'Potential'

Maybach Music Group boss tells MTV News, 'The rhymes Wale has been laying down the last few months' recall 'Ye.By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Rick Ross

Photo: MTV News

Rick Ross might not have gotten his man in Wiz Khalifa, who he wanted to ink to a deal with his Maybach Music Group, but the Miami boss' first pick, Wale, wasn't a bad backup.

Ross thinks the Washington, D.C., rhyme spitter has a chance to follow in the footsteps of another guy who was also considered "unconventional" when he first signed on with his crew. Wale could be the next Kanye West, Ross told MTV News.
"They may be unconventional, but to me, it comes naturally," Ross said about moving to sign Wale and Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill.
"After spending months of my summer working with Kanye, I learned and seen so many different visions and ideas come to light. I was there for 'Flashing Lights,' when it was actually titled another title that me and Kanye went back and forth about. And when I think about Wale, I think about Kanye.
"And the kind of rhymes Wale has been laying down the last few months, since we been in the studio, I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a lot of similarities as far as the pictures that he paints," the Bawse continued. "Of course, Kanye is one of the greats of our time but I see that same potential in Wale."
At the moment, Ross and his MMG roster, which also includes Pill, his Triple C fam and Masspike Miles, among others, are working on the Self Made compilation set to arrive on "Maybach 24." Ross suggested Wale's next solo album should be out "two to three months after that" group project.
While the Maybach Music head said Wale is poised to make big waves, the Miami MC was making waves of his own over the weekend, but probably not the kind he's aiming for. Ross was arrested on Friday in Louisiana on a marijuana possession charges and subsequently released with a misdemeanor summons. Ross is now in New York and scheduled to take the stage in Long Island on Monday night (March 28) as part of Lil Wayne's I Am Still Music Tour lineup.
What do you think of Ross comparing Wale to Kanye? Tell us in the comments!

Deadmau5 Brings Dance Music To The 'Masses,' Wolfgang Gartner Says

'He has a major role in the younger generation to this music,' producer/DJ tells MTV News of his collaborator.By Adam Stewart

It's no secret that 2010 was a pivotal year for electronic dance music here in the States. With deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia becoming household names, the genre's momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Using a conduit of collaboration, artists such as deadmau5 (a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman) have paired up with various underground acts to further the rapid expansion of the genre.

Perhaps one of the most notable movers and shakers of the year is now-Grammy-Award-nominated producer and DJ Wolfgang Gartner, who recently sat down to chat with MTV News about deadmau5 and dance music's rise to the top.
"He has a major role in the younger generation to this music," Gartner says, "but there have been certain artists that have been instrumental in helping it cross over and reach the mainstream — which I think is a good thing. I think rap artists using dance beats is a great thing. I think it just brings more people towards this music that we all love."
Thanks to several key moments, such as deadmau5 taking the helm as house DJ (well, technically "House Artist") for the 2010 VMAs, dance music has been thrown into the forefront of America's youth, a key demographic for any genre.
"Everybody knows who he is now and he's kind of exposing the masses to dance music. These little five-, six- and seven-year-old kids latch on to this 'mau5head' logo — they get into the music and he's bringing this tiny young generation into this music that probably wouldn't be exposed to it."
Gartner certainly doesn't mind the exposure either. Unless you were living under a rock for the past six months, you probably heard one of this past summer's hottest anthems, "Animal Rights," a collaborative effort brought forth by deadmau5 and Gartner.
"It was interesting because I kind of had a preconceived notion about how he would be to work [with]," said Gartner. "I think our sounds are really similar, so I figured he would work in a similar way to me, but the way that he writes music is actually completely different to me. But he achieves kind of the same sound through a completely different process."
Recorded in deadmau5's favorite Los Angeles studio — that would be rocker Tommy Lee's House — "Animal Rights" is a thumping progressive house anthem that melds Wolfgang's unmistakable harmonics and funk riffs with the driving bass line and wobbly synths that make deadmau5 one of the unique forces in the dance music world.
"[Deadmau5] writes these rich complex chord progressions and he does it by drawing these little bars on a grid, which is just amazing that you can do that and get that result," Gartner goes on to say. "It just proves you don't have to be able to play keyboards to write amazing music."
The two sound pioneers never cease to stop pushing the limits on what they are able to produce. Using drastically difference production approaches, deadmau5
and Gartner had the ability to play off each other's strengths while recording the track.
"I'd say the biggest thing is that I play everything in on a keyboard, like even my drums," says Gartner. "I play everything in live and he draws it in with notes on a mouse, which blew me away because his music is very musical."
What do you think 2011 will hold for deadmau5 and Gartner? Let us know in the comments below!

'Sucker Punch' Stars Take A Journey 'Into Zack Snyder's Mind'

Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone, Emily Browning, Jamie Chung and Abbie Cornish reveal their favorite scenes.By Kara Warner

After months and months of buzz, rumors and hype, Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch" is finally about to drop in theaters. MTV News has been on this film's case from day one and recently had the opportunity to catch up with the cast and director for a few in-depth chats.
First up, the lovely leading ladies addressed the film's most outrageous moments.
"I think, for me, when we're on the B-25 bomber plane and we're being chased by a dragon and I'm shooting at it," said Vanessa Hudgens, who plays Blondie. "It's pretty intense."

"I got to do this really fun green-screen moment where I was being lowered upside down on a harness 40 feet in the air," Jena Malone, a.k.a. Rocket in the film, explained. "I had to clear out my mag on my UMP [Universal Machine Pistol] while I was shooting all these robots that I was doing a double-flip over in the middle of a bullet train."
Jamie Chung, who plays Amber, added that part of the fun of working with green screen, particularly a scene in Mecca, was being able to use your imagination. When asked what she pulled from or where she went to prepare for those moments, Chung said she looked to her director.
"Into Zack Snyder's mind," she said. "That was the place that I went."
Emily Browning (Baby Doll) and Abbie Cornish (Sweet Pea) also touted the fight or "dance" sequences as the most unbelievable.
"My favorite thing to watch with my character is probably the first fight scene in Samurai world," Browning said. "People have said to me, 'Oh, so were you just standing there and there was a green screen and they made you look like you were jumping?' I said, 'No, I was on wires the whole time' jumping up and doing crazy things. We did almost a month of wirework at the end of the film. That's pretty cool to see. It's almost like a character in a video game or something."
"I definitely do love a lot of the fighting stuff," Cornish said. "For me the process of filming 'World War I' [an action sequence in the film] was incredible, because we all had solo action pieces so we got to indulge in those action pieces."
Cornish pointed out Snyder's use of high-speed cameras that were used to slow certain movements and make them stand out more onscreen.
"I love the moments where you see Vanessa's character flip her tomahawk and then that awesome throw that she does," she said. "And when Jenna flips her gun in slow motion, I love that stuff."
"That's probably the coolest moment," Browning agreed.
Check out everything we've got on "Sucker Punch."

Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj Tapped For Japan Aid Compilation LP

U2 and Bon Jovi will also be featured on digital-only album from Universal Music.By James Dinh

Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage

Some of pop music's biggest artists, including Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, are lending their tunes for a good cause. On Monday (March 21), it was announced that Universal Music is rushing out a digital-only compilation album to raise awareness and funds for those affected by the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan.
While the lineup and track list have yet to be finalized, other chart-toppers expected to be featured on the release include U2 and Bon Jovi. Lady Gaga may also appear on the album. Proceeds from sales will go to the Japanese Red Cross.
"We are doing it only digitally because it is faster, and this will be a worldwide release. The plan is to have it available later this week," a spokesperson for Universal Music said.
In order to maximize proceeds, the record label plans to find more acts willing to waive royalties that would have come from having their tracks appear on the compilation.
Universal Music is not the only music-industry player reaching to support Japan disaster relief. Most recently, the Black Eyed Peas announced that the music video for their tune "Just Can't Get Enough" would be used to promote awareness and funds for victims of the tragic event. The clip, which was shot in Japan one week before the earthquake and tsunami hit, finds the BEP bandmates traveling throughout Toyko.
Earlier this month, Lady Gaga designed a special prayer bracelet with all proceeds going to relief efforts. In just two days, the pop singer and her legion of little monsters raised more than $250,000.
For more information on what you can do to help with earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan head to MTV Act, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Chris Brown Recalls Making Justin Bieber 'Kind Of Mad'

F.A.M.E. singer was late to their 'Next 2 You' recording session.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Rebecca Thomas

Chris Brown

Photo: MTV News

Aside from his latest controversy, Chris Brown is back with F.A.M.E., which stands for "Forgiving All My Enemies" and "Fans Are My Everything." On the new album, Brown has some choice features from stars such as Lil Wayne, Tyga, Ludacris and Justin Bieber.
"Working with Wayne is always incredible," said Brown, whose "Beautiful People" video premiered Tuesday on MTV's "The Seven." "I've had Wayne on every single album I've done. ... Being able to work with these guys is incredible. I build most of my collaborations off of just the relationships that I've built with these guys over the years and then new relationships, like Justin Bieber."

Brown told MTV News that it was awesome getting Bieber on board for "Next 2 You." Brown became interested in featuring the teen star on his album after the duo worked on the remix to Bieber's track "Up," which was featured on Never Say Never - The Remixes.
"Being able to collab with [Bieber] was great," Brown said. "He's a young, energetic cat, so being able to work with him, with the fanbase he has, was incredible. I know a lot of little girls are going to love this record.
"I wouldn't say [he's] my protégé. He's doing his thing at a young age, and I was doing mine at a young age, so being able to see him come up is dope."
Brown explained that the two of them didn't quite get into the studio together, however.
"I actually stood him up on accident," Brown recalled. "He was kind of mad ... I was all the way on the other side of town handling some business, 'girl business,' and I was rushing back, and by that time, he's like, 'Man, I'm leaving, bro. I did it — just check it out.' And I looked at it and listened to it and I was like, 'Man, this is crazy.' ... He's a great kid."

Taylor Lautner, Justin Timberlake Vie For 'Best Line' MTV Movie Award Nods

'Eclipse,' 'Social Network' stars and more may snag nominations in the new category as voting begins today. By Eric Ditzian

Taylor Lautner in "Eclipse"

Photo: Summit

New MTV Movie Award categories come and go. Best Kiss has been around since the beginning ("My Girl" co-star Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin were the inaugural winners in 1992), while Sexiest Performance and Best Virtual Performance lasted just a year (congrats, Jessica Alba and Gollum!).

For the 2011 show, one new category joins the field: Best Line From a Movie. Folks like Justin Timberlake ("Social Network"), Taylor Lautner ("Eclipse") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("Inception") will compete to make the final list of nominees.
We should add, however, that we've seen something like this before. For two years at the turn of the millennium, we presented a category called Best Line. Robert De Niro won that first year for asking Ben Stiller in "Meet the Parents," "Are you a pothead, Focker?" The next year, "Legally Blonde" star Reese Witherspoon triumphed for delivering this line to Selma Blair: "Oh, I like your outfit too, except when I dress up as a frigid bitch, I try not to look so constipated."
While comedic movie lines won twice in the past, there's no telling what's going to happen this year. Potential nominees are both young ("Grown Ups" star Alexys Nycole Sanchez: "I want to get chocolate wasted!") and, well, not as young ("Tron: Legacy" star Jeff Bridges: "You're really ruining my Zen thing"). There are laugh lines ("With no power, comes no responsibility," Aaron Johnson said in "Kick Ass") and deadly serious ones ("If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook," Jesse Eisenberg declared in "The Social Network"). A few quotes are a little too dirty to print in full ("It's in the shape of a giant co--," cracks Chloë Moretz in "Kick Ass"). And then there are two "Eclipse" quotes facing off against each other: Lautner ("Let's face it, I'm hotter than you") versus Robert Pattinson ("Doesn't he own a shirt?").
Which lines will make the final list of nominees? It's up to you, and voting is already under way at MovieAwards.MTV.com. Polls for Best Line From a Movie and the rest of the categories will stay open through April 5. After the final nominees are announced, another round of voting will kick off on May 3 and run through June 4. But voting for Best Movie will remain open during the awards show itself.
The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller': Story Behind The 'Glee' Cover

MJ classic is mashed up with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Heads Will Roll' for post-Super Bowl episode.By Aly Semigran

"Glee"

Photo: FOX

Madonna, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and now, finally, Michael Jackson. The cast of "Glee" has covered plenty of icons during their first two seasons, but it's taken 33 episodes to get around to the King of Pop.
With a huge catalog of Jackson songs, the singing, dancing students of McKinley High paid homage to the late singer with one of his biggest staples (and, arguably, the greatest music video of all time) with their take on "Thriller."

The groundbreaking single from Jackson's best-selling album of the same name was mashed up with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Heads Will Roll" for the post-Super Bowl episode (titled "The Sue Sylvester Bowl Shuffle"), featuring a zombie-fied "Glee" cast.
Bound to become a smash all over again (though with its nonstop rotation at Halloween parties and wedding receptions until the end of time, it's never truly gone away), here's a brief history of the dance/pop classic.
Released on January 23, 1984, "Thriller" was the seventh, and final, single to be released from Jackson's smash record. According to the RIAA, the album (released by Epic Records) has gone gold 29 times, narrowly edging out the Eagles' Greatest Hits 1971-1975 for the title of best-selling album of all time.
In 2009, MTV News estimated that the Thriller album was poised to go triple diamond, meaning 30 million records sold in the U.S. alone.
After Thriller's other singles (including "Billie Jean," "Beat It" and "Wanna Be Startin' Something") dominated the charts, it was time for the spooky, undeniably original track to take over. The song "Thriller" also appeared on many of Jackson's other albums, including the compilations HIStory and Number Ones.
Clocking in at a little under six minutes (though the radio edit was closer to four-and-a-half), the song features pop-music mainstays like synthesizers but shakes things up with its spooky sound effects, including creaking floors, howling and thunder.
The song was produced by Quincy Jones and written and composed by Rod Tempterton and spent 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #4.
But it's the music video for "Thriller" that truly made it the phenomenon it was in the '80s and continues to be today. Less a music video than a mini-motion picture, the video (over 13 minutes long and directed by John Landis) won three MTV Video Music Awards and has been named the best music video of all time by many outlets, including VH1 for the special "VH1: 100 Greatest Videos."
The chiller features Jackson in that iconic red leather jacket on a date with his girlfriend (played by Ola Ray) before things go terribly awry. After all, as Jackson (whose disclaimer at the start of the video reads, "This film in no way endorses a belief in the occult") sings in the opening line, "It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark." Cue werewolves, zombies, Vincent Price's soliloquy and one of the most memorable dance sequences ever.
The video was (no pun intended) a monster hit. As the Los Angeles Times notes, "At the height of the song's popularity, MTV would run the 14-minute 'Thriller' video twice an hour."
Choreographed by Jackson and Michael Peters (who, as the LA Times also reported, appears in the video as one of the zombies) and with makeup by Oscar-winner Rick Baker (also an undead "Thriller" extra) was made with a huge budget of an estimated $500,000.
Still, the efforts paid off. Landis (who told the "Today" show back in 2009 that no one wanted to give them the funds to make the risky vid) made the accompanying 45-minute documentary about the venture, called "The Making of Thriller." Featuring the behind-the-scenes wizardry, as well as the music video in full, it would go on to move more than 10 million copies.
Since then, the signature song and video have seen their share fair of tributes in movies (notably in the 2004 comedy"13 Going on 30") and TV ("South Park," "Family Guy," "30 Rock," among others), not to mention the countless flash mobs that have gone viral. (Remember the prisoners in the Philippines who became overnight phenomenons on YouTube?)
Even with the "Glee" number, this likely won't be the last incarnation of "Thriller." Billboard reported in October that a "Thriller" film is in the works. With a plot allegedly revolving around Price's narration, Kenny Ortega, who directed Jackson's last effort, "This Is It," will reportedly helm the project.
Since Jackson's untimely passing on June 25, 2009, the song and video's legacy continue to live on. In the week following Jackson's death, "Thriller" was the best-selling track in the U.S., with sales of 167,000 copies on the Billboard Hot Digital Singles chart.
Then, in December 2009, "Thriller" was the first music video to ever be inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. It seems "no mere mortal can resist ... the thriller" after all.
What did you think of the "Thriller" mash-up on "Glee"? Let us know in the comments!

Chris Brown Upset By Rihanna Questions On 'GMA'

'This album is what I want them to talk about and not stuff that happened two years ago,' Brown says.By Jocelyn Vena

Chris Brown on "Good Morning America" on Tuesday

Photo: ABC

Chris Brown appeared on "Good Morning America" on Tuesday (March 22) to promote his new album, F.A.M.E. While he may have only wanted to talk about his new music, host Robin Roberts decided to bring up his 2009 assault of Rihanna and its resulting consequences several times during the interview.

Roberts asked about the stay-away order that had been lifted to allow Brown and Rihanna to be at the same events. "It's not really a big deal to me now. ... I think I'm past that in my life and today's the album day," he said, steering the conversation back to his music.
They went on to discuss the album's title, which he says stands for both "Forgiving All My Enemies" and "Fans Are My Everything."
"Fans are my everything," he reiterated, "being able to go through everything I went through and show my fans that I love them."
Roberts asked who the "enemies" in the title are. "Just anybody, naysayers, haters," he said. "I just think being positive and promoting it is what I'm about now."
He added that he is "focusing on this album. Definitely, this album is what I want them to talk about and not stuff that happened two years ago."
According to TMZ, Roberts' line of questioning angered Brown so much that he had an outburst in his green room after the interview wrapped. Sources reportedly told the site that he began shouting very loudly in his dressing room, causing hair and makeup staffers to call security. He allegedly broke a window causing glass to shatter onto the street level below. ABC security told TMZ that the window was broken by a chair.
By the time security got to the room, Brown had taken his off his shirt and left the building after getting in a producer's face. Glass workers have reportedly already fixed the window. A rep for the show had not responded to MTV News' request for comment as of press time.
He didn't directly comment on the incident, but Brown tweeted and then quickly took down the following tweet: "I'm so over people bringing this past s**t up!!! Yet we praise Charlie sheen and other celebs for there bulls**t." He replaced that post with a new one that reads, "All my fans!!! This album is for you and only you!!! I'm so tired of everyone else!! Honestly!! I love team breezy!! Thank you to everyone who supports my music!!! Key Word ( music) !!! Love y'all."

Jennifer Hudson Says R. Kelly, Alicia Keys 'Gave Me My Sound' For I Remember Me

Singer calls Kelly's ability to channel her 'kind of creepy.'By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi

Jennifer Hudson

Photo: MTV News

On Tuesday, Jennifer Hudson drops her new album, I Remember Me, and it seems the artists she worked with on the record also remembered her. For the release, she hooked up with Alicia Keys and R. Kelly, who seemed to channel the singer perfectly — almost too perfectly.

"R. Kelly was writing for me at the time, and I didn't even know it, and they just sent me this song," she recalled to MTV News about the track "Where You At." "You don't want to get your hopes up too high of being able to work with someone like R. Kelly, and when they sent the song, they told me, 'Kelly put up a shrine of pictures of you to channel you, and he created this song.' "
Whatever he was doing seemed to really work, as Hudson explained: "It was kind of creepy to me, because when I heard the song, I was like, 'Oh my god! ... He's, like, giving me me! This is what I would do! This is something I would say.' And I hadn't even met him until after ... and I'm like, 'This is bizarre.' "
Crediting Kelly and Keys, Hudson notes that "they gave me my sound."
And it seems whatever otherworldly bond she had with Kelly, she had a more-grounded one with Keys, with whom she worked on the songs "Angel," "Everybody Needs Love" and "Don't Look Down."
"I must say that working with Alicia was my favorite sessions in the recording studio ever, and I think it was partly because ... it was a learning experience," she said about Keys, who gave birth days after their sessions. "She's just amazing to work with. We had such a good time together. ... It was an amazing, fun experience."
Which I Remember Me collaboration are you most looking forward to hearing? Tell us in the comments below!

Robert Pattinson Says Making 'Water For Elephants' Was 'Magical'

'I just wanted to show I can be Jacob too,' he jokes to MTV News about his character's 'Twilight'-ready name.By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Robert Pattinson

Photo: MTV News

"MTV First: Robert Pattinson" was barely seconds old before the man of the hour started to feel just a little bit overwhelmed. After we told him that his fans had tweeted in 50,000 questions, he cracked, "Do I have to answer every single one?"

Considering that would probably require Pattinson to hang around with us until the first part of "Breaking Dawn" hits theaters in November, we'll let the guy off the hook. But before we even hit the first of our Twitter questions, we revealed an exclusive "Water for Elephants" clip and asked Rob about shooting the upcoming drama opposite Reese Witherspoon.
"It felt like it was kind of magical in many ways, because we were out in the desert shooting," he said. "There was nothing from the modern world around. It was a different experience for me. It wasn't in a studio or anything."
Sure, it was different, but there remains something oddly familiar about "Water for Elephants": a sweeping romantic story, a love triangle and a character named Jacob. Sound a bit like "Twilight," anyone? The twist, though, is that this time Pattinson is the one playing Jacob.
"I just wanted to show I can be Jacob too. That's the only reason I did the movie. I just looked at the name. There was an elephant, my name is Jacob — done," he said, adding with a laugh, "The next movie I'm doing, I'm called Taylor in it."
The movie is definitely a major step in his career, as he leaps from a blockbuster vampire franchise to a major studio project co-starring Oscar winners Witherspoon and Cristoph Waltz. Only after production wrapped and he began to make the press rounds, though, did he begin to get a bit anxious.
"I wasn't nervous at all until I started doing interviews for it and I realized I actually did a movie," he told us. "It was just really fun while I was doing it. And now I remembered I actually made a movie. I think it's going to be great. It's really beautiful. It was really fun making it, so hopefully it will reflect in the movie."

Lady Gaga's Scrapped Deal Leaves Target 'Surprised And Disappointed'

Gaga dissolved relationship with retail giant over reported political contributions made to antigay gubernatorial candidate.By Jocelyn Vena

Retail giant Target has issued a statement in reaction to the news that Lady Gaga has decided not to release an exclusive deluxe edition of Born This Way, due May 23, through the store as originally planned.
In a statement released to MTV News, Target explained that Gaga's reservations about working with the company came as a shock. Gaga had reportedly dissolved her relationship with the chain megastore after LGBT groups began investigating certain donations the store made, including a 2010 donation of corporate funds to MN Forward, a political action committee that supported antigay candidate Tom Emmer in his 2010 run for governor of Minnesota.
"We were very surprised and disappointed by the statements made by Lady Gaga's organization related to her partnership with Target," the company wrote. "Target remains committed to the LGBT community as demonstrated by our contributions to various LGBT organizations, our recently established Policy Committee to review our political giving and our respectful, inclusive workplace environment."
Gaga, an outspoken gay activist, had previously addressed concerns about Target's political leanings but hoped that they would be able to work to expand their LGBT horizons with her onboard.
"That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I've ever had in a business meeting," Gaga said. "Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they've made in the past. ... Our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they've made supporting those [antigay] groups."

'Water For Elephants' Clip: Robert Pattinson Plans His Getaway

In MTV-premiered sneak peek, RPattz asks Reese Witherspoon to run away with him.By Eric Ditzian

What would you do if Robert Pattinson asked you to run away with him?
That's the question Reese Witherspoon is compelled to answer in a brand-new exclusive clip from "Water for Elephants" that we debuted during "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," a 30-minute live chat with the actor on Friday (March 18).

The clip comes at a point in the movie when Jacob (Pattinson) and Marlena (Witherspoon) are considering fleeing the circus in which they both work. The pair have fallen for each other, though Marlena is married to an unstable animal trainer named August (Christoph Waltz). His life at risk, Jacob is planning to jump from the circus' train.
"If we don't get too far, there's a hotel in Salem," Marlena tells him. "But don't stay longer than the night."
"Just come with me," he says to her considerable vexation. "You think there's nothing out there for you, but there is. You just can't see it."
"Jacob, you don't understand. I can't. He'll find me," she tells him, referring to her husband.
"Marlena, there's a better kind of life that's meant for you," he answers. "Whether that life is with me or not, whether you love me or not, it doesn't matter. But it's got to be now."
Jacob then reaches out for her hand, offering up a smoldering look that would make Edward Cullen proud. After a few seconds of hesitation, Marlena takes his hand in hers. Wouldn't you?
What happens after that? You'll just have to find out when the movie hits theaters April 22.

Michael Jackson Doctor's Trial Delayed

Judge pushes start of Conrad Murray's trial back to May.By Gil Kaufman

Conrad Murray

Photo: AFP/ Getty Images

LOS ANGELES — Though Conrad Murray's lawyers had been pressing for a speedy trial, a judge in the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson's doctor ruled on Wednesday to delay opening statements in the proceedings until May.
The Associated Press reported that Murray's attorneys consented to the postponement after they discussed the matter with prosecutors and both agreed they could be ready for trial by May 9.
According to a transcript from the closed-door session, though opening statements will not begin for several months, Murray told Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor that he did not want to forfeit his right to a quick trial, but agreed to the delay if screening of prospective jurors begins as scheduled on March 24.
"It is only acceptable to me if this is not strung along over a long period of time," Murray told the justice. "I don't want to lose my constitutional right to speedy trial." Murray — who has pleaded not guilty to the charges — reportedly has been in favor of having the proceedings begin as soon as possible because he is facing financial troubles, but he said he understands that the delay is necessary to allow both sides to prepare for the trial.
Pastor consented because he said he didn't want to lose a jury pool, and believed a month-long delay might let potential jurors shuffle their schedules for the case, which could take up to two months to decide. The judge has reportedly clashed with Murray's defense team in recent weeks, pressing them for answers about why they had not turned over more witness notes and other potential evidence to prosecutors in the run-up to the trial.
Cardiologist Murray was hired to be Jackson's personal physician while the King of Pop prepared for his planned 50-date comeback series of shows at London's O2 arena in the summer of 2009. The doctor told police that he provided the then-50-year-old Jackson with sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol in order to combat the singer's chronic insomnia. He said he did so on the morning of June 25, 2009, when Jackson died of what a coroner deemed acute propofol poisoning.
Murray's lawyers reportedly plan to argue that Jackson was already in weak health before he died, that it's unfair to blame propofol for his passing and that, if the anesthetic was to blame, the pop superstar may have given himself the fatal dose by drinking the drug in a panic.
A status hearing in the case has been set for this Wednesday.

Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover

Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.By Gil Kaufman

Adam Lambert performs "Whole Lotta Love" on "American Idol" on Tuesday

Photo: R. Mickshaw/Getty Images/ Fox

Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.

The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.

Robert Pattinson Cries B.S. In His #1 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut an exclusive 'Water for Elephants' clip and answer fan questions live tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com.By MTV News staff

Robert Pattinson at the "Eclipse" premiere in 2010

Photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage

Our weeklong celebration of all things Robert Pattinson has almost reached its glorious, OME-laden conclusion with the debut of "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," our 30-minute conversation with the "Twilight" star. But before the show goes live at 8:56 p.m. ET, we've got one more favorite RPattz moment to present — our favorite one of all.

Previously, we've celebrated our first interview with him and Kristen Stewart, the duo's onstage smooch at the MTV Movie Awards, Rob's first appearance at the Oscars and his love for "Twilight"-branded personal lubrication.
So what happened to nab our #1 favorite RPattz moment? Oh, just the time he uncorked a few filthy words during a live MTV News interview.
It all went down last June at the "Eclipse" premiere during our red-carpet live stream. The crowd outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles was squealing like mad, and we wanted to know if one rumor could possibly be true: Was Pattinson really looking forward to the moment the "Twilight" franchise would be behind him?
"That was such bullsh--. I am so pissed off!" he said.
But Rob, man, we're live!
"Oh sh--!" he cried.
That's not making it better. Oh well, those are the perils and pleasures of reporting live. And as it turned out, after Pattinson declared that he'd been misquoted about being ready to leave "Twilight" behind, he went on to give us a very thoughtful answer about the prospect of life after the vampire franchise.
"Anyone who says they're tired of this is completely crazy. If I ever said that, someone should just remind me of what I was doing before: just sitting around doing nothing," he said, adding, "I love doing the movies. I like all the people. I've had a great time on all of them. The cast is great. It's just weird. It's become so much a part of my life. It's like divorcing someone. I guess I'll see. Maybe it'll be great. I have no idea."
Don't miss "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Tune in to see RPattz introduce a new "Water for Elephants" clip, followed by a live 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Tweet questions using the hashtag #askrob to get in the conversation!

New 'Superman' To Follow 'Batman Begins' Blueprint, Zack Snyder Says

'The whole thing is very much from that perspective of respect the canon but don't be a slave to the movies,' director tells L.A. Times.By Eric Ditzian

Zack Snyder and Superman

Photo: AFP/ Alex Ross/ DC Comics

"Superman" director Zack Snyder finds himself in much the same position Christopher Nolan did in the run-up to "Batman Begins." Nolan had to pick up the scraps of a broken franchise — thanks, "Batman & Robin"! — and re-engineer the Caped Crusader for a new century. Snyder, similarly, finds the Man of Steel in poor shape following an attempted 2006 reboot that left audiences underwhelmed.
Is it any surprise, then, that Snyder plans to follow the example Nolan set back in 2005? "Literally, the one thing that everyone can start to think about is that we're making a movie that finally goes with the approach that there's been no other Superman movies," Snyder told the Los Angeles Times. "If you look at 'Batman Begins,' there's that structure, there's the canon that we know about and respect, but on other hand there's this approach that pre-supposes that there haven't been any other movies. In every aspect of design and of story, the whole thing is very much from that perspective of respect the canon but don't be a slave to the movies."
To that end, it helps, no doubt, that Nolan has taken on a sort of godfather role on the project (officially, he's a producer), not just as a creative guide, but as a concrete example showing that such an approach can actually work.
"Chris is awesome. He's super-respectful but super-helpful, too. You can't imagine a more generous [collaborator]," Snyder said. "Once he sort of got what I want to do with it, he was like, 'OK,' and once he said, 'You know what, that's awesome,' now he's 100 percent. If I say, 'What do you think of this?' he's like, 'That's awesome,' and then there's a great give-and-take about it, a great conversation that we can have about it and making it better every day."
There are a lot of days still ahead. The movie — which, Snyder confirmed, has the working title "Man of Steel" — won't hit theaters until December 2012. Before they even begin shooting, Snyder plans to release a photo of Henry Cavill in costume as Superman, lest an unsanctioned paparazzi photo become the first-ever look at the revamped hero. What we end up seeing in the first official pic, and what ends up onscreen late next year, may not be at all what we're expecting.
"In some ways Superman is the most recognizable superhero on the planet but also the most unknown. Just what he can be?" Snyder said. "People have preconceived ideas about him but probably all of them are wrong."
Check out everything we've got on "Man of Steel."

Coldplay, Led Zeppelin Album Covers Featured On New British Stamps

Album art from Pink Floyd, Blur and David Bowie also included.By James Montgomery

Coldplay's new British stamps

Photo: Royal Mail

On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.
The albums featured in the new series are the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, Led Zeppelin's IV, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, The Clash's London Calling, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Blur's Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head.
Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery.
"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."
Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date."
"We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

Robert Pattinson's 10 Best MTV Quotes

Gear up for RPattz's 'MTV First' live stream (Friday at 8:56 p.m) by looking back at a few choice lines he's given us.By Eric Ditzian

Anything could happen during "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," our live chat with the "Twilight" star on Friday. He did, after all, once drop two curses in less than two seconds during a live interview with us on the "Eclipse" red carpet. There's no telling what might pop out of RPattz's mouth during the live, 30-minute interview.

Whatever does happen, though, you can count on it being entertaining. In his own kinda awkward, always endearing way, Pattinson has a knack for delivering memorable sound bites. As we count down the days until "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" at 8:56 p.m. ET on Friday, we plucked out our 10 favorite quotes of his, ranging from those strange days when RPattz wasn't yet a household name to recent comments about a "Breaking Dawn" photo of him in bed with Kristen Stewart.
10. "This is the first time, really, that I'll be confronted with a bunch of Twilighters. I guess I can see for myself. But I'm kind of nervous about it." — At Comic-Con in 2008
9. "The worst part is you've got to work almost every single day, which is something I'm never going to get used to." — On the downside of being Edward Cullen, at the Los Angeles premiere of "New Moon"
8. "I didn't see Taylor until just a little bit before we started shooting. When he came back, I had the same reaction as everybody else. I was like, 'Jeez, now I have to go to the gym!' — Speaking to MTV Radio about seeing Taylor Lautner's pre-"New Moon" physical transformation for the first time
7. "It made me feel really tough, really hard. I don't think I've ever won a fight in my life." — On winning Best Fight with Cam Gigandet at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards
6. "To be honest, I should've been nominated in a few more categories." — On "New Moon" only receiving five noms at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards
5. "Before 'Twilight,' I did any movie that I got [offered], and you'd try and make the best of it afterward. But now you're expected to come into the movie and provide not only economic viability, but also a performance as well. You can't just mess around. People are like, 'We're employing you to be here, as a star and an actor.' It's difficult, and it's scary." — On the pressures that come with superstardom.
4. "The idea of kind of doing this big romantic kiss, like Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams did [for 'The Notebook'], I couldn't do that. I'd be so embarrassed! So I just thought, 'We better do something dumb.' But then Kristen didn't want to do something dumb!" — On his awkward smooch with KStew while accepting the win for Best Kiss at the 2010 Movie Awards
3. "I love how they release that for the first one. They just give it all away." — Speaking at the Golden Globes about the publication of a photo of Edward and Bella in bed on their honeymoon
2. "I like the story about me being pregnant. It was in some Australian magazine, on the front page! I was like, 'Wow, that's just [insane].' And it's not even ironic. I don't even think the article [tried to justify it]; it was just a headline. The article was just like, nothing." — On the strange things he learns when Googling himself
1. "Lot of my crack in it!" — On his onscreen nudity in the upcoming drama, "Bel Ami"
Don't miss "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" this Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Tune in to see RPattz introduce a new "Water for Elephants" clip, followed by a live 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Tweet questions using the hashtag #askrob to get in the conversation!

'Battle: Los Angeles' Victorious At Box Office

The apocalyptic sci-fi flick had a $36 million opening in its first weekend in theaters.By Ryan J. Downey

The big bad wolf and cartoon Martians were no match for aliens of a much more sinister kind at the box office over the weekend. "Battle: Los Angeles" was the #1 movie with a $36 million debut, while the sci-fi flick's fellow new releases — "Red Riding Hood" and "Mars Needs Moms" — failed to muster the same type of excitement from moviegoers.
While the UFO-invasion flick starring Aaron Eckhart ("The Dark Knight"), Michelle Rodriguez ("Avatar") and Ne-Yo was victorious in the battle for tickets, it failed to conquer film critics. "Battle: Los Angeles" currently has a 33-percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Conversely, last week's #1 picture, "Rango," boasts an 89-percent rating with critics. The animated film about a lizard sheriff, which features the voice talents of Johnny Depp ("Pirates of the Caribbean") and Isla Fisher ("Wedding Crashers"), was #2 on the tally with a $23 million take, making its two-week total $68.6 million. (All box office figures are according to studio estimates.)
Amanda Seyfried ("Mean Girls") stars in "Red Riding Hood," a PG-13 take on the classic children's tale, which debuted at #3 after bringing in $14.1 million. The dark fantasy tale was the worst-reviewed film in the top 10 over the weekend, with a paltry 12-percent critical-approval score. "Red Riding Hood" was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, whose last movie was the first entry in the "Twilight" series, which, of course, launched an international box-office phenomenon. And Seyfried's recently starring vehicle, the 2010 romantic drama "Dear John," has earned more than $80 million.
"The Adjustment Bureau" was #4, earning $11.4 million for a two-week total of $38.4 million. The mind-bending thriller stars Matt Damon ("The Bourne Identity"), whose "Green Zone" opened during the same weekend last year with just a $14.3 million debut. Damon's new movie has already earned more than "Hereafter" or "Invictus" in just two weeks.
With an estimated production budget of $150 million, it's safe to say that "Mars Needs Moms" absolutely needed more viewers. The performance-capture Disney flick brought in just $6.8 million in its debut week to land in the #5 spot. The take was the lowest in history for a 3-D animated movie opening in more than 2000 theaters. (It premiered on 4,400 screens.) "Mars" was, of course, competing with another Disney kids movie, "Gnomeo and Juliet," which was #10 after earning $3.5 million to bring its total to $89 million. "Gnomeo"'s opening five weeks ago was four times that of "Mars."
The raunchy comedy "Hall Pass" was #6 six with $5.1 million for a $34.9 million total. "Beastly" continued to underperform with just $5 million for a $16.9 million total. Adam Sandler's "Just Go With It" headed closer to the $100 million mark by adding another $4 million to its domestic haul. Its $93.9 million total, of course, is still nowhere near the $160 million-plus earned by the comic actor's "The Waterboy," "Big Daddy" or even the more-recent "Grown Ups."
Multiple-Oscar-winner "The King's Speech" was #9 with $3.6 million for a $129 million total. For a small-budget historical drama, it's getting surprisingly close to star Colin Firth's biggest box-office successes — "A Christmas Carol" and "Mamma Mia!" — and has already passed pictures like "Shakespeare in Love" and "Bridget Jones's Diary."
This weekend's new releases will include "Limitless," "The Lincoln Lawyer" and "Paul."
Check out everything we've got on "Battle: Los Angeles," "Rango" and "Red Riding Hood."

Good Charlotte's 'Last Night' Video A Tribute To 'Family Double Dare'

The band takes part in some of the classic Nickelodeon game show's goofy challenges in the new clip.By Kyle Anderson

Good Charlotte

Photo: Funny Or Die

There's an awful lot of Nickelodeon-related nostalgia in the air at the moment. Not only has the network announced that it will begin airing a late-night block of '90s classics like "Clarissa Explains It All" and "The Adventures of Pete & Pete,"but the men of have resurrected the channel's "Family Double Dare" in a video for their new song "Last Night," a clip that premiered on FunnyOrDie.com on Monday.

The video features a lovingly reconstructed version of the classic game show's set and finds the bandmembers participating in a number of the program's extra sloppy challenges — including a handful of entries on the famous game-ending obstacle course. Also appearing in the clip, in a starring role, is former "Family Double Dare" host Marc Summers, who oversees the proceedings and even lip-synchs some of the song.
"This video takes place in the '90s and we were all '90s kids, so we know it pretty well," Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden said in a statement. "This was one of our favorite shows growing up. I always wanted to go on 'Family Double Dare,' and now my dreams get to come true."
The video also features a number of very specific winks and nods to the original show, including the "Pie Cam" and a shout-out to Space Camp (which was often involved in the grand prize).
Good Charlotte are currently on tour in support of their fifth album, Cardiology. They'll wrap up their road trip on March 27 in Anaheim, California.

Beyonce Donated Gadhafi Money To Haiti Relief Last Year

Music industry urges other stars who played for Libyan dictator's family to donate their earnings.By Gil Kaufman

Just days after singer Nelly Furtado announced that she planned to donate to charity money she received for playing a concert for the family of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, a spokesperson for Beyoncé said that the "Halo" singer had already done the same.
Documents obtained by the WikiLeaks website revealed that stars including Beyoncé, Usher and Mariah Carey had played big-paycheck gigs for Gadhafi. On Monday, Rolling Stone magazine reported that the industry was urging the stars (noting that rapper 50 Cent had also played such gigs) to return the money they earned for the concerts.
"They've done it for tons of artists," an unnamed music-business source told the magazine about lavish parties by Gadhafi's son, Muatassim, which are reportedly often "jammed" with supermodels. "Those guys are all over the world."
On Wednesday, a rep for Beyoncé — who played a New Year's Eve gig for Muatassim with Usher on the Caribbean island of St. Barts in 2009 — told the Huffington Post that the singer had long ago resolved the matter.
"All monies paid to Beyoncé for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year's Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago," her publicist said. "Once it became known that the third-party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause."
The money was donated to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund, established in the wake of last year's devastating earthquake, and a spokesperson for the fund confirmed that it received the $1 million check in the weeks after the January 2010 earthquake.
According to her official Twitter feed, Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado confirmed on Monday that she once did a show for the dictator's family and now plans to donate the money to charity. "In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Gadhafi clan to perform a 45 min. show for guests at a hotel in Italy," she wrote on Monday. "I am going to donate the $."
The star-studded shows were part of the extravagant lifestyle of the dictator's sons, whose splashy parties and out-of-control spending have angered their countrymen, many of whom wallow in poverty as the Gadhafi clan benefits from the country's oil riches.

Mel Gibson Reaches A Plea Deal In Battery Case

Actor must complete 16 hours of community service and enroll in a 12-month domestic-violence program.By Jayson Rodriguez

Mel Gibson and his legal team reached a deal with prosecutors Friday (March 11) that will see the actor avoid jail time after being charged with misdemeanor battery earlier in the day.
The actor appeared before a Los Angles judge and pleaded no contest to the charges. Under the terms of his agreement, Gibson must complete 16 hours of community service, enroll in a 12-month domestic-violence program and pay an assortment of court fees and fines.
Gibson also must obey a strict order to not annoy, harass or threaten anyone with violence while serving out his various punishments.
The actor has already begun reporting to a domestic-violence counselor and was ordered to submit a progress report during a status hearing June 9. By that date, the actor is also required to compete his community service, which he's scheduled to perform at the Mending Kids International facility. Gibson's deadline to complete his year of counseling is March 30, 2012.
The actor has 36 hours to turn himself in for booking.
The deal concludes an ugly split between Gibson and ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, the mother of his young daughter. The two dated briefly after Gibson and his wife of 26 years, Robyn, separated.
Gibson and Grigorieva were ensnarled in a bitter custody dispute that was compounded by lawsuits the two filed against each other.
Gibson accused Grigorieva of extortion and she alleged Gibson physically assaulted her.
